Ouuwhatscooking’s Mango with Sticky Rice

“Finding sweet and fresh mangoes at my local Mariano’s Market made me crave this classic Asian dessert to get my sweet fix. Let me show you how to make this classic simple dessert the OuuWay!”

Ingredients:

  • 1 package of Veetee Sticky Rice

  • 1 can of coconut milk

  • 1/2 cup of sugar (more sugar if you like sweet)

  • 1/4 tsp of salt

  • 1 tablespoon of corn starch

  • 3 tablespoons of water

  • 1-2 ripe mangoes, sliced diagonal

  • Toasted sesame seeds for Garnish

Instructions:

  1. Take the Veetee Sticky Rice package and follow instructions on the make the steam stick rice.

  2. Combine coconut milk, sugar and salt in a medium sauce pot and bring to a slight boil. Pour half of the coconut cream sauce into rice, mix well and set aside to cool.

  3. In a small sauce bowl, make a cornstarch slurry by combing it with water and mix it in well with the remaining coconut sauce and bring to a boil until sauce is thickened.

  4. Peel ripe mango, slice around pit, and slice into a diagonal. Serve it with sticky rice, add a ladle of the coconut sauce over the mango and rice, sprinkle toasted sesame seeds and Enjoy!
